![]() ![]() The computer organization tutorials cover the Qsys system integration tool, the Monitor Program, the Nios® II and ARM* processors, and related topics. The embedded system tutorials cover the Linux operating system and Intel FPGA SDK for OpenCL. The following tables show the available tutorials. Download Altera® Monitor Program Tutorials Buy Discounted Hardware. We provide IP cores that support the various devices on our University Program FPGA boards. Computer Systems. The Intel® FPGA University Program provides examples of computer systems designed for use on DE-series boards. ECEN 3350 - Programming of Digital Systems Fall 2015 ECEN 3350 Programming of Digital Systems Altera Information First, DO NOT go to the Altera website and download the latest versions of the software. There are many versions of the software and IP cores for different versions of the DE family of boards. We would like to minimize issues with people using different versions of the software, so we have downloaded versions that work with the DE0 board and the Quartus software, and provided them for you. The Altera design environment only works in a Linux or Windows environment. It is easiest to get the Windows environment working, so I am only providing the Windows version of the software. (If you like a Linux environment, the tools work perfectly well in a Windows virtual machine.) Quartus II, University Program Software, and Windows 7 From Digital Logic Design (ECEN 2350), you should already have a version of Quartus II installed on your machine, check that it is version 13.0.1 (You desktop icons should indicate this.) If it is version 13, then download and install the University Program Software: • Quartus II, University Program Software, and Windows 8 If are using a Windows 8 machine, the University Program Software will not run properly. However, it does work under Quartus II v. You will have to uninstall version 13.0 and install version12.0sp2. Uninstall the Quartus II version 13.0 using the Altera uninstaller. To do this, you need to look for the program labelled something like: 'Modify Altera Complete Design Suite.' This will ask you if you want to do a complete uninstall. Once the uninstall is done, check the Altera directory, C: Altera. There is usually a directory (folder) left there. Delete that directory and all the associated sub-directories. At this point, it is best to reboot your machine. Although this process may seem cumbersome, do NOT simply remove the Altera folders without first running the uninstaller. There are entries in the Registry that need to be be deleted so as not to confuse things when you install the other version of Quartus II. With a clean system, download the following installer:. This is a large file, roughly 3G bytes, so you may only want to do this on campus with wired connection. Towards the end of the installation process, do NOT check the box that asks if you want to get a subscription license. Once Quartus is installed, you may install the University Program Software by installing the following: If, during the installation of the University Program Design Suite, the installer asks about some missing files, select Ignore. At this point, you can try running the Monitor Program and creating a new project. Make sure you have your DE0 board connected and powered-up before running the monitor program. If the monitor program does not see your DE0 board, you will have to download and install the for Windows. (For this step, we are assuming you had already installed the usb-blaster driver, because you had a previous version of Quartus running on your machine.) When installing the stand-alone programmer, you should install into the same directory as the rest of the Altera software. First-time Quartus II user and Windows 7 If you have never installed Quartus II software, go to the website and follow the instructions. Once you have the software installed, download and install the University Program Software: If, during the installation of the University Program Design Suite, the installer asks about some missing files, select Ignore. Getting Started The main program you will be using is the Altera Monitor Program (an icon for it should have been installed on your desktop). A tutorial for using the monitor program is found is found. To get started, you only need to look at sections 3 and 4 of the manual. Getting Started Professors and course instructors can register as of our University Program to: • Request donations of boards and software/IP licenses • Purchase hardware at reduced prices • Obtain complete solutions for our laboratory excercises • Access Intel® FPGA and Enroll your students into one of our. Also, check our schedule and come see us in person. Course Material We provide teaching material specifically designed by professors for courses covering digital Logic, computer organization and embedded systems. Postfix relay.
